What I'm Using Now ( September 2018)

The last time I did a post like this was way back in 2010. Crazy! I was 29 years old with different skin and preferences than I have now at 37.

You can find my old post HERE.

Here's how things have changed:

Shampoo and conditioner
Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner
I have PCOS and over the years, along with a multitude of other symptoms, it's made my hair more and more brittle. I was at the point where I was losing and breaking hair constantly. I honestly thought I'd be bald by the time I'm 40. I've been using the Redken Extreme line for 9 months now and it's made quite the difference. My hair isn't as brittle and doesn't fall out as easily. It's also helped keep my hair a little healthier than (my) normal, even with daily flat ironing.

Styling products
Suave Naturals Dry Shampoo
It's cheap. It works good. And it smells amazing. Love it.
Redken Hot Sets
This protecting styling spray is the ONLY product that will hold a curl in my super fine hair all...day...long.

Shower Gel
I don't really have a preference, but I tend to go for fragrance free products.

Body Moisturizer
Eucerin lotions
No explanation really...I just like their products and I've been using them since I did a little blogger outreach posts for them years ago.

Deodorant
AVON Cool Confidence Roll-On
This is the same deodorant as I was using in my last post, and the one before that. Actually I've been using this since high school.

Fake Tan
None
I've even embraced my super pale legs and show them often.

Cleanser
Simple Moisturizing Face Wash
I'm probably on my 6th tube of this and absolutely love it. Not only is it affordable, but it doesn't make my skin feel tight and dry after washing.

Toner
2010 Me: Eh...none. I'm not a toner kinda girl.
2018 Me: Same.

Exfoliator
Philisophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash
This is still the most gentle, effective facial exfoliator that I've used.

Peel
I don't even do this anymore.

Mask
I like to mix it up with whatever single use, $2-$3 face masks I can find at Target and Ulta.

Serum
Josie Maran Argan Oil
I've been using this for almost a year now and it's absolutely amazing for my combo skin. I only use as my night moisturizer, fresh out of the shower after cleansing. It works wonders for the dry patches I get on my chin, and just feels so good. The 1 oz. size lasts quite a while too. I only use about 3 drops for my whole face. Then I take whatever's on my hands and use it for my cuticles. Boom.

Moisturizer
Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer
This is my day moisturizer that I use before putting on my makeup. It makes my skin feel soft and supple, and helps with any dry areas, yet still dries down enough that my oily areas aren't overly moisturized.

Primer
I've stopped using primer over the years. With my current skin type it's just an unnecessary step and product to purchase.

Setting Spray
Makeup Revolution Sport Fix Extra Hold Setting Spray
I'm adding this category because it's something that I use daily now. This particular setting spray is new to my routine. I had been using Urban Decay Deslick for years. In my life long quest to find drugstore alternatives to my more expensive makeup favorites, I decided to try this because of the great reviews it has on the Ulta website. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I agreed with the reviews. It does a great job adding to the longevity of my makeup.

Foundation (in no particular order)
NARS Luminuous Weightless - Ceylan
Tarte Amazonian Clay - Fair Light Honey
Covergirl True Matte Made Liquid - Golden Ivory
Bare Minerals Original Loose - Golden Ivory
IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream - Light

IDK...I just really like foundations now. If this post does well, I'll do another about these products.

Concealer
MAC Prolongwear - NW15
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye - Light/Medium

I only really use concealer under my eyes and both of these are amazing for that, so I go back and forth between them. A lot goes a very very long way with each. With the MAC I use half a pump for both eyes, and with the IT I use a line about the size of a grain of rice, again for both eyes. I'm not a (makeup) baker, but I do set these with a little MAC Studio Fix Powder (C2 for a little brightness).

Powder
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Loose Translucent Powder
Best setting powder EVER. It's smoothing. There's no crazy flashback. It doesn't look white on the skin (if you don't use a ton of it...come on people, stop). It helps makeup last longer. AND...and it helps lipstick last longer. I use a big fluffy powder brush and buff it all over my face when I'm done with all of my makeup (before mascara and lipstick). I use a little more over my bare lips before I put on my lipstick (this helps with longevity).

Blusher
Hahaha! My favorite blush. This is funny...says the girl with 30+ blushes. <--- Fast-forward to now...I don't have 30+ blushes anymore, but I still don't have a preference on this. I'm currently using a coral/peach Tarte blush that I don't know the name of (the sticker is gone), and a pink IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores blush that quite honestly isn't worth the money. It's just a regular blush with the same look and wear as any other blush I've tried.

Bronzer
Essence Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder
This super cheap bronzer gives a soft satiny finish that's just lovely. It's exactly as it's named...not too matte...not too luminous
Makeup Revolution Pro HD Contour Palette - Fair
I'm not much for contouring but this palette is a current favorite of mine (yay for impulse buys!). I just tap a full powder brush into the 3 deeper shades and bronze it up.

Highlighter
Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate
I love huge pans of bronzer and highlighter because they last for the longest time. This highlighter isn't too crazy...not metallic...not glittery. It gives a nice soft golden champagne glow, especially when it's buffed into the skin.

Eyeshadow Primer/Base
Milani Eye Primer
Favorite eye primer ever. I've been using it since I first reviewed it.

Eyeshadows
All of them. K bye.
Okay but really...right now I'm using Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes like crazy, almost daily.

Eyeliner
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Liner - Nude
Over the years I've stopped wearing eyeliner, with the exception of this nude Rimmel liner on my bottom waterline. It's the perfect color and is gentle on such a sensitive area of my eyes.

Curler
Revlon Beauty Shaper Eyelash Curler
Quite honestly, I just liked the color of this one (red and black), and I've always had good experience with with Revlon lash curlers.

Mascara
Loreal Lash Paradise Waterproof - Blackest Black
This mascara rivals any highend mascara I've used.

Lashes
None!
Just my own, curled, with mascara.

Lipstick
Anything red
The number of red lipsticks I own is a bit ridiculous, but oh well.

Lipgloss
Any random clear or red gloss (great for adding a little color to a nude lip).

Nail Colour
Orly and Essie
Right now I'm wearing a polish that I'm not really a fan or, but generally I use Orly or Essie because they wear a little longer on me that most other polishes.
Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
Absolutely the best top coat ever. I even use it when I'm not wearing a colored polish for the shine.
